I love FACES!

This great lady just found the best website for budding and professional photographers. It is called i Heart Faces. Not only do they have photo taking tips, Q & A's, and guest writers, but they have tons of FACES. Anyone who knows me, knows I love FACES. These faces are submitted as contest entries and then judged each week.

This weeks theme is "No Flash". I will never forget the day I was challenged to "keep a lid on the flash." My short photography life has never been the same.

Here is my child's entry.

Isn't she a darling? I hope she never touches mascara.

This photo was taken out on my back porch on an early spring morning.

Next is my adult entry.

This is the natural light of my life--my hubby. No flash or glitz or glam necessary.

The light was streaming down from a stained glass window in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. He was waiting for me and had no idea I was quite a ways away, holding my breath and trying to capture this thoughtful moment.

His thoughtful moment?

"This purse is SO heavy."

Do you think he will mind if I shared that?! After all, he is holding my purse in such a manly way.

Now, go on over and submit your entries. . .you know you want to!

FYI

If you have called me on my cell phone in the past 2 1/2 weeks for information on pictures and appointments---I haven't been ignoring you.  My purse was lost/stolen while I was in Europe.  My cell phone was one of the casualties.  I have hijacked my daughter's cell phone and transferred my number to her phone, so I am reachable.  You can also reach me by email ksomethingsomething@gmail.com

Thanks!

Prices and Fine Print

Note:  There is a $25 non-refundable scheduling deposit.  It will be deducted from the price of the photo shoot.  It will cover one rescheduling occurrence, which if it occurs between Oct-Dec, may have to be postponed until after the new year as my dates are usually all booked during those months.  Once I receive payment I will lock in your date.

Babies up to age 18 months:

$125. Price includes CD with 10 high resolution jpeg images of your choosing.

*Additional images or full disc may be purchased separately.  See EXTRAS below.

Newborns are best shot within the first 10 days. Photo shoots with older infants are much more successful when they have just learned to sit up and cannot escape!  All other ages are still fun to shoot--we wouldn't want to forget first tooth, first giggle, first food, first step, first shiner etc.

Single child:

$100, and $10 for each additional child. Price includes CD with 10 high resolution jpeg images of your choosing.

*Additional images or full disc may be purchased separately.  See EXTRAS below.

One change of clothes ok.  Or more if they are still happy!

Engagement:

$100.  Price includes CD with 10 high resolution jpeg images of your choosing.  Can shoot at two locations if they are near each other.

*Additional images or full disc may be purchased separately.  See EXTRAS below.

Changes of clothes or accessories ok (but be aware, depending on location, your changing room might be your car!).  If you wish, bring props or items that might express who you are.

Families:

$125, plus $10 per person for groups larger than 6. This is for immediate family only (could include Grandparents which would require purchase of *Grandparent Copy of CD).  Price includes CD with 20 high resolution jpeg images of your choosing.

*Additional images or full disc may be purchased separately.  See EXTRAS below.

Multiple Families

$50 per family with each family being required to buy the full disc ($100).

Graduating Seniors :

$100. Up to 2 locations if they are near each other.  Multiple changes of clothes, jewelry, sports stuff etc. ok!  Price includes CD with 10 high resolution jpeg images of your choosing.

Pets:

$100 per hour for a "pet only" session.  Inquire for more info.  Price includes CD with 10 high resolution jpeg images of your choosing.

*Additional images or full disc may be purchased separately.  See EXTRAS below.

Cash or check due at time of photo shoot.

Extras:

$10 per jpeg image beyond the amount included in your session fee.

$5 editing fee per image beyond the 3 included in session fee.

$100 for the entire shoot of high resolution jpeg  images on disc (only print worthy photos as determined by the photographer and are typically all the ones seen in the web album.)

$30 *Proud Grandparent Copy.  This is a copy with the same images you have chosen for yourself.  If you purchase the full disc, the Grandparent copy will be $25.  Clients have print permission ONLY and are not allowed to make copies of the CD. Additional copies of your photo shoot make great gifts for Proud Grandparents/Aunts/Uncles/Friends etc.

Pets with group.  Add $15 per pet.   Please bring a person or means to occupy them when they are not in the shoot.

Props. OK!  Skateboards, sports equipment, toy, balloons, giant sucker, motorcycle, old car, ice cream cone, cool couch or chair are all OK to bring.  Let me know a head of time so I can get my brain going.

Locations outside of the Mesa/Chandler/Gilbert area are subject to a fuel fee. Contact me for details.

The Session:

Typically, a session lasts about 60-90 minutes depending on light, if you are doing silhouettes and the happiness factor of the subjects. If you would like silhouette shots, let me know so we can make the necessary arrangements.

After the session:

Within a few days of the shoot, a sneak peek will be published on this photo blog and on Face Book.  If you DO NOT want your names published, please let me know.

As a matter of courtesy, please use the link to this site or Head First Photo Face Book page to share sneak peek images until you have received your disc.  Web album images especially are very low resolution and don't provide clear and sharp pictures.

You will be able to review the images on a secure web album where you can select the number of  jpeg images that come with your session.  This is also the time where you can decide if you want the full disc (see above for pricing). Several of the images will have been selected for black and white, sepia, or other editing.  You will be allowed 10 simple (color conversion to bw or sepia) edit  request from the web album, but any additional editing requests will have a $5 charge per change.

Once you have selected the your high resolution jpeg images, they will be burned onto a CD/DVD (usually takes 1-2 weeks) and you have "print permission" to develop the images at the printer of your choosing.

The images will stay in the web album for 15 days after I send you the invitation to view them.

The Disc:

Computer screens are not created equally.  For example, the images I edit on my computer look great and print great, but, if I look at them on our other computer screen, there is a drastic difference.  Bleck.  I hope your screen is not bleck.  This is the risk I take when I sell my discs instead of have clients order prints thru me.  Just know that I trust my screen and hope that you will be satisfied with the final images you receive from the printer of your choice.

Just as computer screens are not created equally, neither are printing companies.  At this time, my favorite printer is Mpix.  They have great quality and are not much more expensive than drugstore or warehouse prices.

If you are ordering prints over the internet, make sure to upload the images to the printer in the  FULL RESOLUTION option.  You may get a resolution warning if you have not done this.

Developing & Cropping:

Be aware when choosing photos to be printed that it is VERY IMPORTANT to check the cropping feature.

ALWAYS  check to see that you like how the photo will be cropped or you may end up with important stuff chopped off! (Sizes least affected by cropping--3.5x5, minis, wallets, 4x6, 5x7, 6x9, 8x12, 12x18, 16x24.  Sizes most affected by cropping 8x10, 8.5x11, 16x20)

Personally, the 8x12s are one of my favorite when I don’t want to lose part of the image due to cropping.  You might have to look a little harder, but there are 8x12 frames out there and they are totally worth it!!

Not a fan of D.I. Y. (Do it yourself)?

If you do not like the hassle of uploading, cropping and ordering your pictures, I will do that for you, 'cause let's face it, it can be a real pain.

A la Carte Prices:

Desk Prints

4x6   $2

5x7   $10

8x10  $20

8x12   $22

Wall Prints

11x14   $45

12x18   $50

Add an additional $15 for foam core mounting on sizes 8x10 and larger.

Ask about other sizes.  I can do gallery wraps too!  They are pricey, but sooooo cool.

Other stuff.  Like details:

You DO NOT have permission to make other editing changes other than cropping without my permission.  If you want to make a change, just fly it by me, and I will probably say yes.

Other other stuff.  Like more details:

Prices and details subject to change without notice.
